Uhlmann Price Securities was founded by Fred Uhlmann, former Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade, 11 years ago as an independent, full service boutique brokerage firm catering to the investment needs of a high net worth clientele, many of whom were fellow exchange members. In 2001, Jim Baer, a Merrill Lynch veteran and a former CBOT member, joined our firm as the Managing Member to build and grow the firm’s capabilities. Shortly thereafter, Tom Price, owner of the Price Futures Group, an international IB, and Price Asset Management, alternative investment specialists, invested in the firm as he foresaw the opportunity to bring traditional and alternative investments under the same platform. Our wealth management and institutional department are lead by Alan Konn, who spent 17 years at William Blair in their Private Investor Department prior to joining us several years ago. We are proud of our position as an independent FINRA member firm and a NFA registered introducing broker. It gives us the ability to provide an unbiased suite of traditional and alternative investment solutions across whatever asset class we believe is attractive for ourselves and our clients in order to provide true diversification. Alternative Investments generally include investments such as managed futures which are not correlated to stock or bond market returns. They provide the potential to enhance portfolio returns and reduce risk by lowering overall portfolio volatility. We seek research, money management, and investment opportunities from whatever outside source best serves our clients. We have custody and clearing agreements with RBC Dain, Man Financial and Merrill Lynch. Today, Uhlmann Price Securities has over $600 million of retail and institutional client assets in both traditional and alternative investment strategies, with over 50 registered institutional and private client professionals. The firm is headquartered in the Chicago Board of Trade.
