Tasha ONeill Photography in Something Directory
Tasha was born and raised in Germany and has traveled extensively throughout Europe. Her language studies took her to England, France and Italy. Her love of adventure brought her to the United States in her early twenties as an au-pair for a well known family near Princeton, NJ, which has been her home since 1973. As a licensed private pilot she has seen the United States, the Caribbean and parts of South America from the air, enjoying wonderful vistas of tropical islands, mountains, clouds, and sunsets. Her husband was the family photographer then. Widowed at 44, one pivotal winter morning she took a camera with her on her daily walk and discovered that, overnight, ice flowers had formed on the canal. The resulting photographs prompted her to take a course at the N.Y. Institute of Photography; her creativity had taken on an additional direction. Those photographic interests have expanded over time to a series of photographs taken on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, scenes taken on the Maine coast, orchids in botanical gardens, children in natural settings, and historic and antique cars. Her involvement in the community has broadened her repertoire further by documenting Princeton Writers Block, Healing through Creativity, and other nature, arts, and preservation efforts. She has also discovered a passion for Product Photography. Tashas summer home is on Mt. Desert Island in Maine. There she immortalizes familiar scenes from extraordinary perspectives. Known for her flower and butterfly portraits, Tasha now specializes in juxtapositions - hard and soft, fire and ice, earth and water. Shadows and reflections have become her signature. In 2005, Tasha was invited to join Gallery 14, Hopewell, NJ, where she exhibits about once a year. This has spurred on her creativity and is leading her in new directions. She is also an active member of the Princeton Photography Club. Tashas works have been featured in newspapers, and magazines; it has been exhibited in regional shows in New Jersey, at the Phillips Mill juried exhibit in Pennsylvania; and the Southwest Harbor Public Library, Maine. Her photographs hang in numerous private collections around the world. For photo permissions, exhibit enquiries, or further information, please contact Tasha using the email form.
