Hi, my name is Roberta Rosenberg and Im the adoptive mom/webmaster behind AdoptShoppe Books, AdoptShoppe, and my first site and labor of love, Adopting from Korea: A Prospective Parents Guide to Korean Adoption. I began Adopting from Korea in 1998 while awaiting my sons arrival from Seoul. I developed it, in part, because I needed someplace to focus my energies while waiting for our boy. The other part was because in all my web searches at that time, there wasnt a single site that explained the Korean adoption process in a clear, easily understood fashion. So when I couldnt find the information I was looking for, I decided to create it myself. In 1999, I developed AdoptShoppe while awaiting our second child from Korea. AdoptShoppe, like Adopting from Korea, was created to fill an online void. (Remember, this was 1999.) I wanted to build a small shop for adoptive parents to find items of usefulness, value, and beauty that was hard, if not impossible to find elsewhere. Today, our thousands of customers from the US, Canada, and all over the world would agree weve done a pretty good job. Our extensive selection of adoption lifebooks, journals, adoption announcements, and unique gifts continues to grow. But books, next to my husband and kids, are my first and most abiding passion. When Im learning about a new subject, I simply cant read enough about it. That was certainly true when we were first researching adoption, and its still true today. But books are expensive and specialized books on adoption hard to find, even on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I hadnt planned to open a bookstore in addition to AdoptShoppe, but when a colleague offered me the chance to buy up some of her overstock inventory, I jumped at the chance. And so AdoptShoppe Books was born. Were not a bricks and mortar store and we dont serve lattes and chai tea. But because our overhead is very low, we can discount many of the books we offer, including several of the most popular adoption titles on a variety of topics. We also carry several worthwhile but hard-to-find adoption books at excellent prices, too.
