Founded in 1980 American Technical Publishers Ltd (ATP) was formed to enhance the marketing and distribution requirements required in Europe and the Middle East of three US engineering societies ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and ASM (Formerly American Society for Metals). In 2005 ATP was acquired by IHS and is now known as IHS. The acquisition was a win for customers as it serves to further enhance our ability to meet the technical information needs of businesses worldwide, with both hardcopy books and standards and online subscriptions to technical information. IHS is now a leading distributor of technical information and over the years has grown to include many of the other top US engineering standards producers and other commercial publishers including ASTM, ACI, ASCE, APO, ASME Press, ASQ, AWWA, BSI, CASTI, ICBO, Industrial Press, ISA, NACE, Productivity Press, Scitech, SME amongst others.
