The workshops are at our rural property The Park situated 5 kilometers East of Otane in Central Hawkes Bay which is on the East Coast on the North Island. I formed a partnership with my father Peter in 1982 with one aim in mind: - to make the best polo mallets in the world. As business expanded, we diversified into making croquet mallets and croquet equipment. The Partnership became a limited company in 2000 and is one of the worlds leading manufacturers in both products. Wood Mallerts was awarded the Hawkes Bay Business of the year award in 2001. Having spent several years as semi-professional polo player on the international circuit, Im well aware of the demands of discerning polo players. Ive spent more time and effort than anyone else on Earth developing the composite polo mallet. Our philosophy is to source and select the best possible materials and manufacture them to an unparalleled level into high performance sports goods. This is coupled with prompt and attentive customer service. Approximately 85% of our turnover is exported to over 50 different countries. We also have a joint-venture factory in Jakarta, Indonesia, which is the worlds largest manufacturer of cricket bat handles and also supplies selected rattan and wooden articles for export.
