Racetrons Bill Lyon designed the worlds first sucessful racing intercom system back in the day as a part of the Performance Technology line of electronics systems for motorsports. The first one was built for Scoop Vessels. Next came the Nissan factory off-road racing team of Roger Mears, Jack Johnson, Spencer Low and Sherman Balch, followed by Walker Evans multi-car team. When word got out, demand went through the roof and a deal was made with CompComms Jim Russell to market our intercoms to the general racing community and Racetron would provide all technical services. Soon, every factory off-road team was using our products; Dodge, Jeep, Ford, Nissan, Toyota and Chevy. When the Score Trophy Truck series began, every entry was using our equipment and, to this day, more Baja 1000 winning Trophy Trucks have used our intercoms than any other. And the demand wasnt just off-road - our system quickly became the unit of choice for 85% of the boats racing POPRA in the West and over 70% of the boats racing APBA in the East. We became direct manufacturer suppliers to Skater, Fountain, Cigarette, Outerlimits, Advantage, and numerous boat riggers throughout the world. CompComm did a great job of distribution and service and helped our intercoms become the gold standard of racing intercoms worldwide. In 2005, Tom Frank, CompComms former Vice President / General Manager, joined Racetron as our Manufacturers Representative. Toms been selling our products for years, and we knew that his experience at CompComm representing Racetrons products would prove invaluable as we look to the future. Today, Racetrons innovations continue to lead the industry. The Comzilla model is available both in a panel mount version for prerunners, sand cars, and poker-run boats, and a very rugged surface mount unit that gets it done under the most adverse racing conditions on earth. After all these years, were still supplying radios and intercoms to the premier racing teams of the world. In 2007, when the Volkswagon factory team shook the off-road world winning the Baja 500 International Truck class with their Touareg Rally Cars, it was our Comzilla Ultimate Racing Intercom that provided the communications.
