For the last two ski seasons Sierra Nordic has been operated by Andrew and Mary Hall and myself, Gary Schmitt. Andrew and Mary have been the best partners a person could ask for; hardworking, smart, honest, fun and considerate. And so, it is with mixed emotions that Sierra Nordic announces the departure of Andrew and Mary Hall. I am of course excited to be the sole proprietor of Sierra Nordic. Mary and Andrews expertise and friendship will, however, be greatly missed. I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing them both all the best for their return to Australia. I have more than 25 years experience in the cross country ski industry. Ive been a ski school director in five states and two hemispheres, most recently a four-year stint at Tahoe Donner Cross Country, Truckee CA. While in Australia I created a full cross country ski department for outdoor retailer Mountain Designs. I was responsible for buying, marketing, merchandising and training staff. Though Im a very keen and accomplished cross country skier, I am still an active instructor. Ive not forgotten what its like to be a beginner.
